What We Do
A Paediatrician is a children’s doctor.
As Paediatricians working at kudos, we understand that each child is unique. We celebrate difference. We embrace diversity. We listen to the child’s voice.
Raising children to be the best they can be is challenging. We are committed to supporting children and their families thrive.
We do not claim to be the best. However, we do commit to doing our best for your child and family.
Developmental + Behavioural Focus
Our core business at kudos is Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics.
Children mostly enjoy good health and parents are therefore free to focus on supporting them through childhood, strengthening their character and providing opportunities for them to grow and mature. At kudos we see families when that process is disrupted and studies, such as the one below, show that the most common concerns are about a child's development.
In 2013, The Australian Paediatric Research Network published the ‘Children Attending Paediatricians study’ (CAPS). It showed that:
- Paediatricians are seeing more and more children with developmental + behavioural issues
- Over 50% of referrals to Paediatricians are for developmental + behavioural issues
- The most common conditions managed by Paediatricians are ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties and anxiety + behaviour problems
Individually Tailored Care Plans
As we believe each child is unique we resist labelling children. Each child will have their own collection of behaviours and set of issues that they are dealing with at a particular point of time.
As they grow and develop, the type of behaviours and issues will change. That’s why we develop an individually tailored care plan for each child that is regularly reviewed to enable them to thrive and reach their potential.
We work across the life of a child from baby to teenage years:
Baby Settling, bonding, development of speech + movement
Toddler Parenting, difficult behaviour, communication
Primary Social interaction, managing emotions, academic learning
Adolescent Self-identity, independence, puberty, social interaction, vocational
Developing At Their Own Pace
At kudos we see our role as Paediatricians to be more than just about physical health. We understand that Paediatricians must develop a deep understanding of childhood behaviour and development.
Not all children develop at the same pace and, in fact, each child may experience uneven development. We’ll see where your child is on their developmental path and help them to build the skills needed to reach the next stage.
As General Paediatricians we are also skilled to advise you about common childhood health problems. If a subspecialty paediatric opinion is required, we will help you to find the right specialist for you child.
